Using inspiration from Barbara Kruger; I was able to portray toxic relationships, and how they can lead to a series of self-doubt. The red illustrates the couples self-conscious and how they are both drowning, clinging for dear life. The Barbara Kruger quotations which typically a communication tool in her artistic practise used to challenge notions of power, identity and sexuality was now being used to imply the emotional abuse that is endured during an abusive relationship.
